Well Said

No, I’m not dead, and this isn’t another “Blah blah Facebook addict blah blah my life sucks so does my blog” post.

Actually been busy as hell the last week. Working more hours (which is good and bad at the same time if you get my drift), and reading a lot (The library had a copy of David Drake’s complete Hammer’s Slammers).

I’ll be honest folks, I’m pretty much burned out on bitching about politics anymore. It’s not that I’m apathetic and given up: far from it. It’s just the current crop of elected assholes and the willfully retarded masses who refuse to open their eyes as to what’s happening right now can’t get me fired up, because the constant burn I’ve been at has eaten away the fuel.

I’m pretty much done with arguing with the stupid. It’s just getting too hard to not introduce the “Yay! Socialism!!” type’s front teeth to their tonsils. It’s the same reason I DON’T go to tea parties or town halls.

One union goon in my face and I. Will. Lose. It.

I’m past trying to debate with fucktards who list off a litany of things the government has done badly (which is pretty much everything) and then actually think they are being clever or something by using those examples as reasons we should give the government MORE power over our lives.

The next irony immune asshole who uses a shitty experience with Medicare or the VA as a reason that Hope & Change, Inc. should drag us ALL into the bureaucratic tar pit they are trying to pitch us into is the one that may push me over the edge. This would be bad for everyone involved (briefly and highly satisfying for me, but bad in the prison term and giving the opposition a fresh magazine to fire back kind of way).

So you won’t see me bitch too much about the health care abomination. Others are doing it better and more often.

I’m moving along to the census….

An Excelent Post by LAWDOG

Mental rabbit chase
During the last Presidential ruckus, various folks were exposed to the whacky world of citizenship as it relates to the ability to run for the office of POTUS.

Part of that ruckus involved the Senate passing a resolution declaring that Senator McCain was a natural-born citizen, an act that I found to be completely unnecessary and little more than a "bread-and-circus" act for the gratification of the Public.

It was only later, during a informal debate with a political figure that I learned -- to my horror -- that it appears that most law-makers were actually taking that resolution seriously.

When I pointed out that the First Congress of the United States had actually put that question to rest some centuries back, this lawmaker was flabbergasted.

*sigh*

I hereby offer to sponsor the 28th amendment to the United States Constitution: "The possession of a law degree hereby bars the person so possessing that degree from holding any elected office at the Federal level, as does the possession of a degree in political science."

We've got enough lawyers and PoliSci types in Federal Government now -- and look where that's gotten us. We need more historians in Congress, and fewer lawyers. That way we might actually be able to avoid passing laws to cover things already dealt with.

That, and the whole "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" thing.

Just a thought.

Why is it

Why is it…. if you cross the North Korean border illegally you get 12 years hard labor……
but if you cross the U.S. border illegally, you get a driver’s license, Social Security card, and free health care?

Whose bright idea was this?

The Truth Shall Set You Free

SCORE for Palin!

Wow. Right out of the gate in her new role and she SCORES!

The Senate Finance Committee will drop a controversial provision on consultations for end-of-life care from its proposed healthcare bill, its top Republican member said Thursday.

The committee, which has worked on putting together a bipartisan healthcare reform bill, will drop the controversial provision after it was derided by conservatives as "death panels" to encourage euthanasia.

Underestimating her is the left's first mistake.

EDITORIAL EXEGESIS

EDITORIAL EXEGESIS
"Democrats, bloodied over their attempt to force health care 'reform' on Americans, are looking more unreasonable and hysterical by the day. This isn't healthy for the republic. Their increasing anxiety and fear of failure are typified in the words of the leader of their party, who wants Republicans to keep their mouths shut while he 'fixes' health care. 'I don't want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking,' the president said Thursday at a political rally in Virginia. 'I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess.' So much for the promises of bipartisan lawmaking. So much for open discussion. So much for understanding who really caused the 'mess' in the first place. Like Al Gore claiming the debate about global warming is over, the White House simply wants to shut down dialogue over who controls more than one-seventh of the economy. ... Truth is, there's nothing more American than revolting against heavy-handed authority, be it a long train of abuses from a king or the lawmaking of elected officials with strong authoritarian urges. This is a nation founded on independence, and there is a large portion of it that wants to retain that priceless heritage. This seems to confuse some lawmakers. ... Voters' deep anger is justifiable. They have every right to disrupt and shout down public figures who, as the protesters can be heard chanting, work for them. At dispute is not a mere difference of opinion that can and should be discussed in a civil manner, but a fundamental question of who is in charge of peoples' lives. We are not advocating violence, though coercive government is at its core violent as the state is required to resort to force to ensure that its directives aren't violated. But we do support our fellow citizens' right to express their rage at an injustice, particularly if it makes lawmakers uncomfortable. Shouldn't Americans bristle when their independence is threatened, when a federal official, in this case White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina, says party leaders 'will punch back twice as hard' when voters merely show their displeasure? The freedom the protesters are defending can sometimes be messy and imperfect. A lack of freedom, however, is eternally oppressive. It is an unrelenting prison that poisons the human spirit, even when cloaked in allegedly humane programs such as government-run health care." --Investors' Business Daily

Thought for the Day

"Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them." --Thomas Jefferson

VA News

Senate Approves Advanced Funding for Veterans Health Programs

On Thursday, the Senate passed its version of the advanced funding for VA Health Care. The goal of the NAUS-endorsed legislation is bring much needed stability and predictability to the VA healthcare system and consistent high-quality care to sick and disabled veterans. The House passed its version on June 23rd.

The Senate passed version of the bill carries the same bill number as the House passed bill, HR 1016, but its wording differs somewhat. Both bills direct congressional appropriators to fund two-year plans for VA health programs to avoid financial and management difficulties that have occurred in past years. The differences will be worked out in conference when Congress returns in September.

NAUS Note: It was interesting to see that the Senate also added $2 billion to extend the “Cash For Clunkers” program. NAUS trusts Congress can as easily find money for the SBP/DIC Offset elimination and Concurrent Receipt for Chapter 61 medically retired veterans

Washington Report

Status Report: Chapter 61/Concurrent Receipt

As you know, President Obama submitted a budget at the beginning of the year calling for all Chapter 61 medical retired military members to receive Concurrent receipt. The House version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) (HR 2647) includes a partial provision to phase-in Concurrent Receipt to Chapter 61 personnel, but it is only funded for nine months.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid offered an amendment on full Chapter 61 concurrent receipt to the Senate version of the NDAA consistent with President Obama’s budget request. The Reid amendment (S.AMDT. 1478) was never brought up during Senate deliberations.

This does not mean the measure is dead. The House and Senate will have to meet in conference to iron out differences between the two versions of the bill. Because it is in the House version of the bill and because the President is pushing for a more robust provision, it is likely for a better result in the House-Senate-Administration conference.

The NAUS effort is to see the preference of the President included as a priority in the final defense package. We encourage members to continue contact with elected officials while they are back home during the recess. Our goal remains, of course, to see full concurrent receipt provided to all disabled retired military.

So Nat'ralists observe, a Flea Hath smaller Fleas that on him prey, And these have smaller Fleas to bite 'em, And so proceed ad infinitum"--Jonathan Swift My regular readers might have noted, that I've been oddly silent on various issues lately. I haven't commented on the many abuses of the Obama administration; or the general political crap going on right now. I havent talked about Obamacare.. or really anything about politics in weeks. There's a simple reason for that: I've already said it all. These are all just the same collectivist, authoritarian, evil fantasy ideology over and over again. Each abuse, each bit of stupidity, each bootheel... they've all sprung from the same source; and I've spent the better part of the past five years denouncing that source, at great length, and varying degrees of vituperation.Simply put, I've said it before, and doing so again would be redundant.... and frankly I'm tired of saying "I told you so"... and really, I'm just tired.

The King

August 2, 2009
The Madness of King Barack I
I turned a jaundiced eye toward the Cash For Clunkers program when I first heard of it. It seemed like just another bit of progressive feel-good theater designed to make the ecomaniacs feel splendid about themselves. That being, of course, the entire raison d'etre of a progressive in the first place. I assumed the barriers to entry for this enterprise, the red tape and myriad of if/thens, would make the program just another liberal circle jerk. Cheap vaudeville for the True Believers.

Therefore I was surprised when I read that no only was the program hugely successful in enticing folks to buy new fuel efficient cars, but it was so goddamn successful they'd run out of the first billion dollars of taxpayer money and needed an infusion of another 2 billion. All the while killing/unkilling the program as "too fucking successful," to quote the administration's Demolition Derby Czar.

Two things about this program drive me absolutely insane: first, anyone who can afford payments on a new vehicle doesn't need my fucking tax dollars to make that happen. $4500 rebate for your clunker? Better be prepared to pay sticker price less $4500 for that new vehicle, sucker. And anyone who can't beat a salesman down $4500 on a new car without a trade in is a fucking moron.

Second, and most egregious, is the fact that these "clunkers" are being willfully destroyed to prevent their use forevermore. Here is the infamous video you've all seen of a Volvo(!) being destroyed with a lethal dose of sodium silicate:

You poor people who voted for Obama? He just fucked you again. Poor people can't afford $500 car payments even with a $4500 taxpayer bailout. All those "clunkers"? They were traditionally immediately auctioned into the bottom rungs of the used car market. High school and college kids looking for a first car? Poor folk who can only afford a $500 to $1500 car, where the dealer carries the paper and you pay him weekly because your credit resembles that of the Weimar Republic circa 1922? You're boned, Patsy.

It's just like the old trope of burning a village to save it. (I really despise the assholes who perpetrated My Lai. Not only for what they did, but for giving the Left 40 years worth of ammunition, during which they endlessly and breathlessly proclaimed that that was all we ever did in Vietnam. Besides bayoneting babies and raping women, of course).

A government that purposefully destroys perfectly serviceable consumer goods, inexpensive goods that most benefit the poorest and most desperate members of society, is a government gone so fucking mad it makes the ravings of tertiary syphilis look wholesome in comparison.

This singular act belies any affectation of good faith, compassion, or humanity this craven and diabolical regime presumes. Barack Obama would rather have poor people beggar a damn ride to work, or walk holes in their shoes, than drive an affordable vehicle that does not meet his arbitrary and capricious definition of environmental friendliness.

I work in a county full of poor country sods, black and white. Almost to a person they drive "clunkers". And there is a reason they drive pickup trucks from the sixties, seventies, eighties. And it's not for ironic reasons, or because they enjoy driving a "classic". It's because they bought that truck when they were 25 years old, and have babied it their entire lives and they never want to buy another vehicle, unless it's to buy mama a Buick when she's 65 to drive to the Publix and the hairdresser once a week. These poor bastards just had a goodly amount of the affordable vehicle market yanked out from under their feet by a megalomaniacal prick.

I suppose King Barack I wants them to ride public transportation. Well, they don't have fucking buses in the country, or the small towns. That's an urban construct designed to help enslave the city proles. Hamlet proles need a cheap car, you miserable wretches.

My indifference to this contemptible bastard has grown to concern, to disgust, to loathing. He isn't fit to carry a house framer's tool belt. He is a fraud, a despicable fraud, who would build his empire upon the bones of the weakest, most vulnerable segment of society as he engineers us into the ditch.

I cannot wait to vote againt this son of a bitch again.

One Mistake is all ti takesm Vote for Husien

Five Questions Most Feared By Men
Question # 1: What are you thinking about?

The proper answer to this, of course, is: “I’m sorry if I’ve been pensive, Dear. I was just reflecting on what a warm, wonderful, thoughtful, caring, intelligent woman you are, and how lucky I am to have met you.”

This response obviously bears no resemblance to the true answer, which most likely is one of the following:

•Baseball.
•Football.
•How fat you are.
•How much prettier she is than you.
•How I would spend the insurance money if you died.

Perhaps the best response to this question was offered by Al Bundy, who once told Peg, “If I wanted you to know what I was thinking, I would be talking to you.”

Question # 2: Do you love me?

The proper response is: “YES!” or, if you feel a more detailed answer is in order, “Yes, Dear.”

Inappropriate responses include:

•Oh Yeah, shit-loads.
•Would it make you feel better if I said yes?
•That depends on what you mean by love.
•Does it matter?
•Who, me?

Question # 3: Do I look fat?

The correct answer is an emphatic: “Of course not!”

Among the incorrect answers are:

•Compared to what?
•I wouldn’t call you fat, but you’re not exactly thin.
•A little extra weight looks good on you.
•I’ve seen fatter.
•Could you repeat the question? I was just thinking about how I would spend the insurance money if you died.

Question # 4: Do you think she’s prettier than me?

Once again, the proper response is an emphatic: “Of course not!”

Incorrect responses include:

•Yes, but you have a better personality
•Not prettier, but definitely thinner
•Not as pretty as you when you were her age
•Define pretty
•Could you repeat the question? I was just thinking about how I would spend the insurance money if you died.

Question # 5: What would you do if I died?

A definite no-win question. (The real answer, of course, is “Buy a Corvette and a boat”). No matter how you answer this, be prepared for at least an hour of follow-up questions, usually along the these lines:

WOMAN: Would you get married again?
MAN: Definitely not!
WOMAN: Why not, don’t you like being married ?
MAN: Of course I do.
WOMAN: Then why wouldn’t you remarry?
MAN: Okay, I’d get married again.
WOMAN: You would? (with a hurt look on her face)
MAN: (makes audible groan)
WOMAN: Would you sleep with her in our bed?
MAN: Where else would we sleep?
WOMAN: Would you put away my pictures, and replace them with pictures of her?
MAN: That would seem like the proper thing to do.
WOMAN: And would you let her use my golf clubs?
MAN: She can’t use them; she’s left-handed.
WOMAN: - - - silence - - -
MAN: Shit!

I AM AN American,, I stand Tall and tell the truth

I have noted that many elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, called upon America to unite behind Obama.

Well, I want to make it clear to all who will listen that I AM NOT uniting behind Obama!

I will respect the Office which he holds, and I will acknowledge his abilities as an orator and wordsmith and pray for him, BUT that is it.

I have begun today to see what I can do to make sure that He is a one-term President!

Why am I doing this?

It is because I do not share Obama's vision or Value system for America.

I do not share his radical Marxist's concept of redistributing wealth;

I do not share his stated views on raising taxes on those who make $150,000+ (the ceiling has been changed three times since August);

I do not share his view that America is arrogant;

I do not share his view that America is not a Judeo/Christian Nation;

I do not share his view that the military should be reduced by 25%;

I do not share his view of amnesty and giving more to illegals than American Citizens who need help;

I do not share his views on homosexuality and his definition of marriage;

I do not share his views that Radical Islam is our friend and Israel is our enemy who should give up any land;

Besides, he has no clue that God's chosen people is Israel and we are to bless them, not take away from them. Those that curse Israel are cursed by God. Those that bless Israel, are blessed by God. Pray for His people.

I do not share his spiritual beliefs (at least the ones he has made public);

I do not share his beliefs on how to rework the healthcare system in America.

I do not share his Strategic views of the Middle East, and certainly do not share his plan to sit down with terrorist regimes such as Iran.

Bottom line, my America is vastly different from Obama's, and I have a higher obligation to my Country and my God to do what is Right!

For eight (8) years, the Liberals in our Society, led by numerous entertainers who would have no platform and no real credibility but for their celebrity status, have attacked President Bush, his family, and his spiritual beliefs!

They have not moved toward the center in their beliefs and their philosophies, and they never came together nor compromised their personal beliefs for the betterment of our Country! They have portrayed my America as a land where everything is tolerated except being intolerant!

They have been a vocal and irreverent minority for years; they have mocked and attacked the very core values so important to the founding and growth of our Country!

They have made every effort to remove the name of God or Jesus Christ from our Society! They have challenged capital punishment, the right to bear firearms, and the most basic principles of our criminal code; they have attacked one of the most
fundamental of all Freedoms, the right of free speech!

Unite behind Obama? Never!

I am sure many of you who read this think that I am going overboard, but I refuse to retreat one more inch in favor of those whom I believe are the embodiment of Evil!

PRESIDENT BUSH made many mistakes during his Presidency, and I am not sure how history will judge him.

However, I believe that he weighed his decisions in light of the long established Judeo-Christian principles of our Founding Fathers!

Majority rules in America, and I will honor the concept; however, I will fight with all of my power to be a voice in opposition to Obama and "his goals for America ."

I am going to be a thorn in the side of those who, if left unchecked, will destroy our Country! Any more compromise is more defeat!

I pray that the results of this election will wake up many who have sat on the sidelines and allowed the Socialist-Marxist anti-God crowd to slowly change so much of what has been good in America !

"Error of Opinion may be tolerated where Reason is left free to combat it."
(Thomas Jefferson)

God bless you and God bless our Country

For The Record

"The administration has fulfilled a promise to cut spending by trimming $100 million from the 2009 budget. That's right -- $100 million with an 'm,' an imponderably small slice of this year's expenditures. Back in April, the White House stressed that President Obama, during his first Cabinet meeting, 'made clear that relentlessly cutting out waste was part and parcel of their mission to make the investments necessary for recovery and long-term stability.' Department heads were 'to identify at least $100 million in additional cuts to their administrative budgets.' Three months later, he has gotten his wish: The White House announced on Monday that the goal has been reached. To say such a cut is negligible is an exaggeration in the extreme. To fit that description, a cut first has to be visible. Though it was initially promoted as a seminal moment, this cut doesn't come close to meeting even the most reachable of benchmarks. In fiscal 2009, our federal government will spend nearly $4 trillion, according to the Office of Management and Budget's historical tables. The $100 million cut represents 0.0025% -- less than one one-hundredth of 1% -- of those outlays. ... Now, thanks to the administration's 'relentless' belt-tightening, the deficit will be $1.79999 trillion rather than $1.8 trillion." --Investor's Business Daily

IAVA Launches New GI Bill Website

A fellow member of The Military Coalition, the Iraq Afghanistan Veterans Association (IAVA), has asked us to pass on that they have launched their website New GI Bill.

There is a new benefits calculator to help you figure what your benefits are. For example the calculator will actually tell you what a veteran will receive under the Post 9/11 (Chapter 33) and Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30), not just an approximation. This will help approximately 300,000 veterans, who have not yet signed up for their earned benefits under Chapter 33 or 30, to make smart choices for themselves.

There are many other features such as a:

· Checklist for veterans wanting to get started.

· Information for schools.

· The “GI Bill Wire” (a blog announcing changes, news, and GI Bill advocacy).

This is the product of months of hard work and IAVA wants to make sure that they have it right. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact Patrick Campbell at IAVA.

A Gun in the Home
Imagine being a ten year old boy home alone with your eight year old sister. There is a knock at the door. You tell your sister to be quiet. The knock becomes more insistent, and ultimately two grown thugs kick your door in.

That is what happened at a Port Allen, Louisiana apartment complex. The boy and his sister ran to hide in a closet. The home invaders quickly gave chase. They snatched open the closet door, pouring a blinding light on the trembling children.

But the ten year old boy had grabbed his mother's handgun as he closed the closet door behind himself and his sister. Because that handgun was in that home, two children are alive and well, and two armed criminals who would assault and quite probably kill without remorse are behind bars. Their juvenile get-away driver is in jail as well.

In case this video feed ever goes down, the boy shot one of the criminals, Roderick Porter, in the mouth with the handgun. Porter and his accomplice, Dean Favron, turned tail and ran from the armed adolescent. They did not run because they changed their mind about hurting children. They were not reformed. They had no religious conversion. No, the epithany they had was that the boy they had threatened had the means and the willingness to kill them dead, to place them rotting in their graves if they did not retreat. That is why they ran. The boy's willingness came from his resolve to live and protect his sister. The means came from the gun his mother kept in the home.

This home invasion occured in a part of town that is not exactly economically privileged. Chances are, the gun was an inexpensive type, such as a Hi Point or possibly even a Raven or Bryco. The type of handgun used is not important. The thing is, the gun was there, a boy was willing to use it to save lives, and the handgun worked. Tonight, in Baton Rouge Louisiana, three violent armed criminals are in jail awaiting trial because of that boy and that gun. In Port Allen, a mother tucks her children into bed and thanks God she had a gun in the home.

Health care

"Just as people use vastly different amounts of gasoline, they also use vastly different amounts of medical care -- especially when an appointment with a highly trained physician costs less than a manicure. Insurance plans that force everyone in the plan to pay for everyone else's Viagra and anti-anxiety pills are already completely unfair to people who rarely go to the doctor. It's like being forced to share gas bills with a long-haul trucker or a restaurant bill with Michael Moore. On the other hand, it's a great deal for any lonely hypochondriacs in the plan. ... You don't have to conjure up fantastic visions of how health care would be delivered in this country if we bought it ourselves. Just go to a grocery store or get a manicure. Or think back to when you bought your last muffler, personal trainer, computer and every other product and service available in inexpensive abundance in this capitalist paradise. ... Isn't food important? Why not 'universal food coverage'? If politicians and employers had guaranteed us 'free' food 50 years ago, today Democrats would be wailing about the 'food crisis' in America, and you'd be on the phone with your food care provider arguing about whether or not a Reuben sandwich with fries was covered under your plan. Instead of making health care more like the DMV, how about we make it more like grocery stores? Give the poor and tough cases health stamps and let the rest of us buy health care -- and health insurance -- on the free market." --columnist Ann Coulter

First Lady? I think not

MICHELE OBAMA'S ATTENDANTS

No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn't perform any official duties. But this hasn't deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just think Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary.

How things have changed! If you're one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Miz Michelle are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public:

1. $172,2000 - Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff)

2. $140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Policy And Projects For The First Lady)

3. $113,000 - Rogers, Desiree G. (Special Assistant to the President and White House Social Secretary)

4. $102,000 - Johnston, Camille Y. (Special Assistant to the President and Director of Communications for the First Lady)

5. Winter, Melissa E. (Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)

6. $90,000 - Medina, David S. (Deputy Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)

7. $84,000 - Lelyveld, Catherine M. (Director and Press Secretary to the First Lady)

8. $75,000 - Starkey, Frances M. (Director of Scheduling and Advance for the First Lady)

9. $70,000 - Sanders, Trooper (Deputy Director of Policy and Projects for the First Lady)

10. $65,000 - Burnough, Erinn J. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)

11. Reinstein, Joseph B. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)

12. $62,000 - Goodman, Jennifer R. (Deputy Director of Scheduling and Events Coordinator For The First Lady)

13. $60,000 - Fitts, Alan O. (Deputy Director of Advance and Trip Director for the First Lady)

14. Lewis, Dana M. (Special Assistant and Personal Aide to the First Lady)

15. $52,500 - Mustaphi, Semonti M. (Associate Director and Deputy Press Secretary To The First Lady)

16. $50,000 - Jarvis, Kristen E. (Special Assistant for Scheduling and Traveling Aide To The First Lady)

17. $45,000 - Lechtenberg, Tyler A. (Associate Director of Correspondence For The First Lady)

18. Tubman, Samantha (Deputy Associate Director, Social Office)

19. $40,000 - Boswell, Joseph J. (Executive Assistant to the Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)

20. $36,000 - Armbruster, Sally M. (Staff Assistant to the Social Secretary)

21. Bookey, Natalie (Staff Assistant)

22. Jackson, Deilia A. (Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady)

There has never been anyone in the White House at any time that has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket.

Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and "First Hairstylist" Johnny Wright, 31, both of whom travelled aboard Air Force One to Europe.

survival of the sickest
Drug addicts may be given priority access to the swine flu vaccine under plans being drawn up by the health authorities, it has emerged.

Professor Lindsey Davies, director of the Department of Health’s Pandemic Influenza Preparedness unit, said that those suffering from long-term maintenance conditions such as heroin addicts who are receiving methadone treatment could be included in the “vulnerable” groups that will be targeted first.

The revelation will cause controversy at a time when there is increasing public disquiet about the potential effects of swine flu, which claimed 100,000 victims last week alone and has claimed more than 30 lives in this country so far.

Tricare update

On TRICARE, Senate NDAA Agrees with House Version, with President and with NAUS

Earlier this year, NAUS President MG Bill Matz hand-delivered a letter to the White House that called on President Obama to not submit a budget calling for an increase in TRICARE fees and premiums.

As you know, The White House contacted MG Matz directly to let him know that there were no plans for TRICARE increases.

When the House passed its National Authorization Bill, it followed the President’s position on TRICARE.

We see now that the Senate, too, has followed the President’s position on TRICARE fees.

Having fought TRICARE fee increases over the past four years, NAUS is most pleased to see the strength of the President’s promise to NAUS kept by Congress, as there are no TRICARE increases in the either version of the bill as it goes to final conference.

NDAA, National Defence Authorization Act closer to compleetion

Senate Passes S.1390, NDAA Act moves to Conference with the House

On Thursday, the Senate approved its version of the fiscal year 2010 National Defense Authorization Act (S.1390) by an overwhelming majority vote of 87 to 7. The bill provides approximately $680 billion for the national security activities of the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy.

As approved, the bill contains many important provisions to improve the quality of life for our men and women in uniform, including a 3.4 percent pay raise for active duty troops and an increase in manpower levels for all of the services.

The bill also contains several key NAUS-endorsed amendments: Sen. Bill Nelson’s (D-FL) amendment to repeal the SBP/DIC offset; Sen. Chuck Schumer’s amendment to improve military and overseas absentee voting; Sen. John Kerry’s (D-MA) amendment to provide earlier retirement for Guard and Reserve forces to Sept. 11, 2001; and, Sen. Richard Burr’s (R-NC) amendment to ensure that spouses of active duty military members would be guaranteed to maintain original State of residence, if they choose, for voting purposes.

NAUS also is very pleased to note the addition of an amendment to conduct a study on adding the National D-Day Monument in Bedford, Virginia, to the National Park System. The small town of Bedford had the highest per capita loss of military members killed during the Allied invasion of France on D-Day, June 6, 1944. We applaud Senators Webb and Warner of Virginia for their amendment to honor the “Boys of Bedford.”

Also, a key NAUS-endorsed amendment offered by Sen. Chuck Schumer was added to the bill to ensure that the votes of U.S. troops and other Americans living overseas are counted in upcoming elections. Voting improvements for overseas American voters has been a NAUS goal for more than a decade. Protecting the vote of our deployed troops is the main cause for the establishment this year of the Association of Military and Overseas Voting Rights (AMOVR), which is co-Chaired by NAUS Legislative Director Rick Jones.

One of the highly controversial amendments removed funding in the reported bill for building additional F-22 “Raptor” fighter aircraft. However, after the vote on the F-22 funding, a report from the Pentagon was made public which indicates that the F-35 fighter program, which is intended to meet and fill the nation’s combat aircraft needs, is two years behind schedule. This is most disturbing and NAUS wonders why this report was not made available to legislators and staff while the F-22 debate was ongoing.

Senators Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME) successfully added an amendment to the NDAA that helps put service-disabled veteran-run businesses on equal footing in the competition for small business government contracting programs.

The amendment is in response to two GAO decisions released in September 2008 and May 2009 that contradicted a long-standing SBA interpretation that the Agency’s procurement programs should be treated equally when it comes to awarding contracts. The decisions stated that certain programs had preference over all other small business contracting programs. Accordingly, the amendment will provide equity for the SBA’s small business contracting programs. NAUS applauds this action to protect earned benefits.

NAUS is greatly disappointed, however, to see Majority Leader Harry Reid’s amendment to extend concurrent receipt for all medically retired military (Chapter 61s) not given a vote. The Reid amendment was offered but never considered. A similar amendment is already included in the House version of the bill, so it will be part of the upcoming negotiations between the House and Senate aimed to resolve differences in the two bills.

While the House has yet to appoint its conferees, the Senators appointed to the conference committee include: Sens. Levin, Kennedy, Byrd, Lieberman, Reed, Akaka, Nelson (FL), Nelson (NE), Bayh, Webb, McCaskill, Udall (CO), Hagan, Begich, Burris, McCain, Inhofe, Sessions, Chambliss, Graham, Thune, Martinez, Wicker, Burr, Vitter and Collins.

Before appointing conferees, the Senate renumbered its version of the bill to agree with the House numbered bill. As the bill goes to conference, it will carry the House number, H.R. 2647. This means there are now two different versions of H.R. 2647, the Senate passed version and the House approved version. Differences between the two bill will be ironed out in a conference between the House and Senate.

We encourage you to contact your elected officials and let them know how you feel on the issues contained in the NDAA and any other that affects you. Please use the NAUS CapWiz site to send them email. Your efforts assist us tremendously in working for the important legislation that helps all active duty, retirees, veterans and their families.

Disabled Retiree Bill Heads to Senate
June 29, 2009
House Committee on Veterans' Affairs

House Approves Disabled Military Retiree Relief Act

Washington, DC – House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton (D-MO) delivered the following remarks during the consideration of H.R. 2990, the Disabled Military Retiree Relief Act of 2009. The bill includes a one-year fix to relieve the disabled veterans tax by expanding concurrent receipt, which would make more disabled veterans eligible to receive both military retired pay and veterans disability compensation. H.R. 2990 was approved in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 404 to 0.

“The one group of retirees that have endured great hardship, but have been among the last to be embraced by reform, is the disabled retiree with less than 20 years of service. This group of retirees had been ignored by even the most reform-minded advocate until the Democratic Congress acted to include them in the Combat-Related Special Compensation program when the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 was adopted. And yet this group of retirees has perhaps the most compelling story to tell. Many of these service members were on track to serve a full military career but were blocked from serving 20 years because of their disabilities. It is this group of retirees that were disabled at younger ages and often with young families. As a result, they are often the most financially stressed.

Letter From Senater Nelson

Dear Brian,

Today I testified at a Senate hearing about the persistent and deadly risk posed by the prevalence of the Burmese python in Florida.

Invasive species like the Burmese python are wreaking havoc in our most treasured environments. Some estimate there are upwards of more than one hundred thousand of these deadly pythons in the Everglades National Park. The crown jewel of our national park system has been transformed into a hunting ground for these predators.

And last week the unthinkable happened.

An eight-foot Burmese python escaped from its container in a home northwest of Orlando. The pet snake bit a two-year-old girl and wrapped itself around her body. By the time the paramedics had arrived, the child had been strangled.

And this is not an isolated case. Over the last ten years, at least 17 people have been the victim of an attack. Seven have died.

It took this tragic event to bring back focus to this problem – and there’s something we can do about it.

I filed a bill in February (S. 373) which would declare pythons as injurious animals and halt the importation and interstate commerce of these deadly snakes.

The state of Florida has been working from its end to get a handle on these snakes. They now require a yearly registration fee, owners must display knowledge of handling and care, and snakes are now micro-chipped – so if one got loose you would have a chance to chase them down. Now it’s time for the federal government to step up

Opinion In Brief

"Every time a Democrat senator has talked during the Senate hearings on Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor ... I felt lousy about my country. Not for the usual reasons when a Democrat talks, but because Democrats revel in telling us what a racist country this is. Interestingly, the Democrats' examples of ethnic prejudice did not include Clarence Thomas, whose nomination hearings began with the Democrats saying, 'You may now uncuff the defendant.' Their examples did not include Miguel Estrada, the brilliant Harvard-educated lawyer who was blocked from an appellate court judgeship by Senate Democrats expressly on the grounds that he is a Hispanic -- as stated in Democratic staff memos that became public. No, they had to go back to Roger Taney -- confirmed in 1836 -- who was allegedly attacked for being a Catholic (and who authored the Dred Scott decision), and Louis Brandeis -- confirmed in 1916 -- allegedly a victim of anti-Semitism. ... Alas, today Democrats can't really place Estrada -- James Carville confuses him with that other Hispanic, Alberto Gonzales. On MSNBC they laugh about his obscurity, asking if he was the cop on 'CHiPs.' They also can't recall the name 'Anita Hill.' Nor can anyone remember African-American Janice Rogers Brown or what the Democrats did to her. Only the indignities suffered by Justices Taney and Brandeis still burn in liberal hearts!" --columnist Ann Coulter

Quote Of The Day

"The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained." --George Washington

from Senator Miller.

With Congressional Democratic leaders and an Administration that is spending trillions of taxpayer dollars that the U.S. doesn’t have, one would think that $360 million for a program guaranteed to provide American jobs wouldn’t cause President Obama to even blink an eye. But instead of supporting an important Department of Defense priority that employs thousands of people, the President has threatened to veto the entire $680 billion Defense Authorization bill if it includes any funding for the F-22 fighter jet program.

The F-22 Raptor is a vital part of our national defense strategy. A fifth-generation fighter aircraft utilizing stealth technology, it was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but has additional roles that include ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence capabilities. The U.S. maintains or has under construction 187 of these fighters, and military leaders continue to express the need for more F-22s. U.S. Air Force General John D.W. Corley stated in a letter to Senator Saxby Chambliss that cessation of the F-22 program “puts execution of our current national military strategy at high risk,” and he advocates for an ideal inventory of 381 Raptors.

The President and Secretary of Defense need to listen to their top military commanders, like General Corley, in order to ensure the Air Force remains a world air power and is not reduced to a regional air power. I expect our uniformed leaders to do their Constitutional duty and stand up to this Secretary, despite his record of removing those who disagree with him. Maintaining our world air dominance and independent advice to the Congress from our military is imperative.

Equally as important as preserving world air dominance is that the construction of the F-22 provides 95,000 American jobs across 27 states. These jobs are high-paying, high-quality jobs—just what we need to be providing in the current economic climate. These jobs, however, seem to not matter to the current Administration.

Unfortunately, the President is bent on reducing funds for our military in order to free up money for a $1 trillion government-run health care plan, a government takeover of General Motors, and more economic “stimulus.” To put these numbers in perspective, the United States could build 5,725 brand new F-22’s, employing 3 million Americans to do it, with the money obligated in the first stimulus bill. Interestingly enough, 3 million more Americans are unemployed today than were at the beginning of the President’s term.

We were promised millions of new jobs from the first stimulus, yet unemployment is nearing ten percent. Less than ten percent of the stimulus bill funds have been spent so far. And where has the government decided to spend this taxpayer money? Amtrak. Another government-owned operation. Amtrak received $91 million in the stimulus bill to upgrade a few passenger cars. The total price tag to upgrade each car? $687,000, or roughly $12,000 per seat. This is on top of billions of dollars of government subsidies Amtrak receives every year just to stay solvent.

The President is willing to veto the entire defense budget over an F-22 program extension that will cost a tenth of what we provide Amtrak in subsidies each year. It’s time the government stopped trying to run our car companies and our health care system and instead invest in American jobs, the American people, and our American future.

well said now lets see how many others will stand up for it

A U.S. Army Reserve major from Florida scheduled to report for deployment to Afghanistan within days has had his military orders revoked after arguing he should not be required to serve under a president who has not proven his eligibility for office.

His attorney, Orly Taitz, confirmed to WND the military has rescinded his impending deployment orders.

"We won! We won before we even arrived," she said with excitement. "It means that the military has nothing to show for Obama. It means that the military has directly responded by saying Obama is illegitimate – and they cannot fight it. Therefore, they are revoking the order!"

She continued, "They just said, 'Order revoked.' No explanation. No reasons – just revoked."

A hearing on the questions raised by Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, an engineer who told WND he wants to serve his country in Afghanistan, was scheduled for July 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Join the petition campaign to make President Obama reveal his long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate!

"As an officer in the armed forces of the United States, it is [my] duty to gain clarification on any order we may believe illegal. With that said, if President Obama is found not to be a 'natural-born citizen,' he is not eligible to be commander-in-chief," he told WND only hours after the case was filed.

NOT FORGOTTEN!

Do You Own a Gun? Want To Keep It?

Welcome to Voluntary Militia
Do you own a gun? – Do you want to keep it?
The Constitution of the United States of America – and, perhaps more importantly, the Amendments to that Constitution – are the foundation documents upon which all laws of the land are based. Simply stated, the Constitution is the very essence of what America is and was meant to be.

The first two Amendments draw more debate than any of the other twenty-seven because they are the key to our liberty. Sensible argument agrees that, should these first two Amendments fail, the Constitution could not stand.

Amendment I.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Amendment II.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The true meaning of these two Amendments is argued and debated in the endless dissection of each word, as if they had a sinister, hidden meaning. Common sense dictates that the carefully-crafted words mean exactly what they say. Truth be told, the reason for argument is that the forces opposed to our freedoms well understand the meanings of these words and are afraid of them.

Let it be clearly stated and understood, the Voluntary Militia is not affiliated to any political philosophy or party, sectarian ideology or religious belief. It has no other motivation than the protection of the American Constitution and Bill of Rights, in particular the First and Second Amendments, and specifically the American Citizen’s right to keep and bear arms.

Anti-gun lobbyists are very serious in their assault on the provisions in the second amendment, which affords citizens the right to keep and bear arms.

There are steps we can take that we believe will halt the assault on the fundamental right of American citizens to keep and bear arms, and, at the very least, give serious question to the current contravention of the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

We urge the immediate voluntary registration of citizens into a militia, to ensure the protection of the rights granted within the Second Amendment of the American Constitution. Because of recent unconstitutional actions taken by the current Administration and supported by a majority of the Congress, we have become troubled by uncertainty.

Title 10 – Chapter 13 – Sec. 311 Militia: composition and classes states:
STATUTE
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are -
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia. (To register with the Voluntary Militia, members are gender neutral and must be at least 17 years of age – there is no upper limit.)

Therefore, the Voluntary Militia has opened a register, and made entry available to all eligible adults, free of any lawful encumbrance.

Registration will confirm the acceptance of any and all rights obliged under Title 10 – Chapter 13 – sec.311.

There are no words this picture IS worth a thousand words

Ohh the Humanity,, or Stimulis x2

Taxpayers have barely had a chance to put their now-empty wallets away after the last “stimulus” bill forced through by the Obama Administration, yet already plans are in the works to potentially send a second round of billions of dollars out the window. A nearly $800 billion package, fraught with pet projects of nominal relevance to boosting our economy, was pushed through with the hopes of stemming unemployment and restoring economic viability in our country.

As expected, the stimulus bill had the opposite effect. In June, unemployment numbers were reported at nine-and-a-half percent, with many conceding that a double-digit unemployment rate is now likely. In addition, only approximately ten percent of the massive amount of stimulus money has been committed. This money was supposed to get critical infrastructure projects underway more quickly throughout all 50 states, and in doing so create hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Now, top-level officials in the Obama administration are already discussing the possibility of a second stimulus package. The problem is that calling the first $800 billion a stimulus of any sorts is inaccurate and misleading since it hasn’t accomplished any of its goals in stimulating the economy. A second stimulus isn’t really a second stimulus if there wasn’t a first one to begin with.

Since the administration isn’t going to use the stimulus money to help the economy as originally planned, there are at least a few areas where these billions upon billions of dollars could be put to good use. To start, these hundreds of billions of dollars could go toward the annual appropriations process, something the House and Senate are both currently working on. Much of the spending in these bills is duplicative of what the stimulus is supposed to target, and both of these send our national debt moving even higher. Another simpler alternative is to simply rescind the unspent stimulus money since we have seen no indication of its contribution to our economy.

Viable alternatives have been put forth, yet the administration and the Democratic majority in Congress has ignored them. One particular bill, the Economic Recovery and Middle-Class Tax Relief Act, contains targeted economic relief that will actually help a majority of Americans. Through across-the-board tax relief and providing incentives for small businesses to grow and prosper, the Economic Recovery and Middle-Class Tax Relief Act recognizes that families are the backbone of our society and that small businesses comprise a majority of our workforce.

Americans across the nation from all walks of life and all political leanings have increasingly showed their frustration with the path that reckless government spending has taken. There have been zero displays of fiscal restraint from the current administration, and no indications of that changing. Moreover, the promises of real results through spending hundreds of billions of your tax dollars have proven empty, and instead of holding onto hard-earned money for ourselves and our posterity we are going to be left holding nothing for generations to come. To consider making this problem even worse through a second “stimulus” package is unconscionable and a disservice to taxpayers who are already working hard to make ends meet.

Doom Sayers

"According to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, we only have 96 months left to save the planet. I'm impressed. 96 months. Not 95. Not 97. July 2017. Put it in your diary. Usually the warm-mongers stick to the same old drone that we only have ten years left to save the planet. Nice round number. Al Gore said we only have ten years left three-and-a-half years ago, which makes him technically more of a pessimist than the Prince of Wales. Al's betting Armageddon kicks in January 2016 -- unless he's just peddling glib generalities. And, alas, even a prophet of the ecopalypse as precise as His Royal Highness is sometimes prone to this airy-fairy ten-year shtick: in April, Prince Charles predicted that the red squirrel would be extinct 'within ten years', which suggests that, while it may be curtains for man and all his wretched works come summer of 2017, the poor doomed red squirrel will have the best part of two years to frolic and gambol on a ruined landscape. So, unless you're a squirrel, don't start any long books in 95 months' time, because time is running out!" --columnist Mark Steyn

what more can I add to this. time is running out,, quick go sguirrel hunting before it is too late

and then poof we are gone

The Gipper

"I'm warning of an eradication of the American memory that could result, ultimately, in an erosion of the American spirit. Let's start with some basics: more attention to American history and a greater emphasis on civic ritual. And let me offer lesson No. 1 about America: All great change in America begins at the dinner table. So, tomorrow night in the kitchen I hope the talking begins. And children, if your parents haven't been teaching you what it means to be an American, let 'em know and nail 'em on it. That would be a very American thing to do." --Ronald Reagan

An Old Joke,, but I liked it

we all know those that piss and moan,, but sometimes,, it really does work..

A Kansas farm wife called the local phone company to report her telephone failed to ring when her friends called. Also on the few occasions when it did ring, her dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile lady.. He climbed a telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned and the telephone began to ring.Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire with a Steel chain and collar. 2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the number was called.4. After a couple of jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate. 5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring.Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning.

Godspeed yall

and then Poof

Veterans News,,Good Job VA

VA’s Suicide Prevention Lifeline continues to save lives as the1-800-273-TALK national phone number is featured in public service television and transit ads across the country. The Lifeline number just began its ride on more than 21,000 city buses in 124 communities across the United States this summer and that transit ad program has already paid off. The VA Suicide Prevention Lifeline call center in Canandaigua, NY, reported a call from an “acutely suicidal” veteran in Houston, Texas, “with the plan, means, and intent to act” shortly after the bus ads appeared there. He saw the bus ad and called in desperation. Later, he called back to the Lifeline center to thank the social worker he reached, saying: “She took the time to listen to me and everything I needed to get out. I felt I had lost everything and had nothing. She helped me see I can turn things around. She gave me hope. The suicidal thoughts are gone and I’m on my way to the VA for the help I need. I want to thank you all for being there for us for saving my life yesterday.” Since its inception in July 2007, the VA Suicide Prevention Lifeline has rescued more than 3,000 veterans and provided counseling for more than 120,000 veterans and their loved ones at home and overseas. The lifeline is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by trained mental health professionals prepared to deal with immediate crises.
